Religious Service

On 14Th of December.I went to the church in the Mochou Road.My planning teacher Ms .Bartell organized this activity.I went there with Evelyn and many of my classmates.We arrived the church at 2P.M.Ms. Bartell waited us at the gate of the church.The church 's name is St.Paul.It is the biggest protestantism church in Nanjing.

My aunt is a devout protestant.I knew something about protestantism from her,So,I want to go to the church to experience by myself.In addition,protestantism is the culture from western country.The people in western country all believe in god,So,it is a good way to know them.

At the beginning,the people there handed each person a small pink book.There are some lyrics and introductions of the religion.Then, the leader sang a sentence,we followed him.Even though I can't understand the meaning of the song,I can feel how devout and serious they are.In their heart,god is unique and holy.They believe the Christ will take away their grief,hatred and send them joy,love.

In a conclusion,I do not believe in religions,but I do believe people can benefit from their belief.All the people in the world had made some mistakes .All of us had got guilt,the belief of religion is one of the ways to purify our heart and restart our life with guiltless heart.We told our mistakes to the god to gain its forgiveness.

Participate in a Service Activity organized by a GCA teacher

Cook Pancake

It was a sunny day on April 19th.I got up early in the morning.Then,I went to Edward's home with a good mood.Our group has 3 members:Edward,Penny and I.Ms.Headly has taught Edward how to cook the pancake already,So,he can teach Penny and I.

First,We bought the materials,flour,teaspoons baking powder,salt,sugar,oil,egg,

milk and bananas.We prepared 2 bowls,one is put the dry ingredient,such as flour and baking powder.The other bowl is put the wet and liquid ingredient,such as milk.Penny need to mix the ingredients,Edward was in charge of cooking the pancake,my duty was to divide pancake into 29 parts to my classmates and Ms.Bartell.I also need to make it beautiful and put the honey on the surface of the pancake.

After arranging each member's duty.We started to cook the pancake.First,we mixed the dry ingredients in one bowl.Then,we beat an egg and add milk in another bowl.We add the egg-milk mixture to dry ingredients slowly.Then ,add melted butter or oil into the bowl. After that, cook all the ingredients. The last step was the most important step of all.If we didn't cool carefully,the pancake will scorched.We failed 2 times.At last,we succeed.I cut the pancake to 29 pieces,Then,I divided the bananas into many small pieces and put them into the pancakes.It can make the taste better.Finally,I put some honey on the surface.The pancake were finished.

During this activity,I learned how to cook the pancake.I also learned that we shouldn't be afraid of failure.Sometimes,failure is the essential stage to success.If we don't lose heart and give up,we will find the way to achieve our goals.When we do the things,determination and patience are 2 main factors in the process.Just hold,success belongs to us!!!

Go to a performance

On the night of the third January.I went to attend a performance which was called "New year's Symphony Party".

Although the day was very cold,there were many people coming to the concert.The concert was began from 6:30 to 9:00P.M. at the People's Hall.It was 6:15 when I arrived there,my mother,my younger sister,my friend Casca also came with me.

In my opinion,music is very important to our developments by purifying our hearts.At the same time,I think it is a good way to celebrate the New Year.So,we made the determination to take part in this concert.

The symphony party had three famous performers.They are Chen Jinyang,Fan Jingma and Wang Yan.Chen Jingyang is a conductor,Fan Jingma and Wang Yan are two singers.The first programme was "Orchid Color Danube",I still remember that when I was 11 years old,I heared this Waltz in one of my music class.At that time,I was touched deeply by this graceful melody.The next programme was "Ma Leica Pigweed".The singer was Wang Yan who is a famous soprano vocalist.Though I dislike this kind of singing.I have to admit that she had a good voice.Fan Jingma sang very well too.There were still many programmes,I won't introduced them one by one.They were all wonderful.

However,I think this performance was successful.I like this concert very much because the music were fantastic.The elegant melody can make me think of a lot of happy memories of my childhood.

I think music is a kind of art.They can make us calm and give us a peaceful time.As a student,we must realize that they can cultivate our temperament.We should try to love and appreciate art.

Community Involverment& Employablity Skills

Volunteer for the Fashion Show

On Apirl 23th,Ms.Headly asked students in our class to be her volunteer.She wanted us to design and draw the letters for fashion show.The fashion show is held yearly.I think this is a good chance to show myself and learn from other's.I also like designing and painting,so,I recommended myself to volunteer this service.

At 4p.m. after school,Evelyn,Grace,Edward,Abby,Maria,Amy ,Soda and I went to the art room.Ms.Headly has already there,she was so happy that so many students came to her.First,she divided us into 2 groups.One group is in charge of designing the letters.The people in this group should be creative and good at drawing.The other group need to use the scissors to cut out the letters.They should know how to use the scissors and have some experiences on agile handwork.I think I am good at drawing and designing.So,Ms. Headly put me into the first group.

My first task was to design a big letter "A" in the paper,Ms.Headly told me to put my own opinion into this paper.The letter must be related to the fashion show.After thinking of it for a while.I finished the letters and gave it to Ms. Headly.She said it was excellent.Then ,I gave the letter to Soda,She was in charge of cutting my letter.I told her to be very carefully.Other students also did a good job.My second task was cutting the letter"S",because there weren't enough people cutting .I think this was a big challenge for me,I am not good at using the scissors.It's very difficult to cut such a big paper.I tried my best to make it better.At last,I finished it very well.

After we finished drawing and cutting the letters,Ms. Headly arranged the last task to us.We need to paint all the letters.I was very excited when I hear it,because I like painting very much.Ms .Headly asked each 2 students make up with 1 group to paint one letter.Maria and I chose the letter"O".We would like to paint its color like the camouflage combat clothes.It was very popular now.We chose 5 different colors and drew the outline inside the letter.Then,we painted the colors into it.At the beginning,I thought it was a very easy job,but at that time,I realized it was not easy to do anything.If we want to do the things well,we must put all the effort on it.At about 7p.m,we finished the letter.There were a few letters didn't finish.So,Ms Heady asked us to come the day after that day.

I think there are many things I need to learn in my life.After volunteering this project,I learned the importance of team spirit again.During the cooperation,each member can learn from each other and benefit from the process.We must learn how to cooperate with different kinds of peoples.The symbiosis is essential in the dairy life.I also learned that the patience is significant,without it,anything can't be done.

Nanjing Museum

I went to the Nanjing Museum with my parents on March 14th.The weather was so good. My parents and I decided to go outside to relaxed and breath the fresh air.I suggested to went to the Nanjing Museum to know more history of my country, and I can finished my poforlio too.Then,my parents has kindly agreed to go to the Museum. My father drove us to the museum.On the road to the museum,we talked many fun things and history in Nanjing.We all had a good mood to there.

My fatner,my mother,my younger sister and I arrived at about 10a.m.I heared that the Nanjing Museum is one of the earliest museums in China.I think we need to know more about the culture and history about our own country.My father told me to watched carefully in the museum.In my Impression,museum is very boring and seriousness,but after I saw all the artwork in the museum.I felt surprised.I think our country is inconceivable.We even haven't made any artworks beyond theirs until now.We all felt pround of our country and changed the concept of museum in my mind.

First,I went to the Lacquer Ware Hall.China is the first country Lacquering technology. As early as Neonothic Age about seven thousands years ago,wood products coated lacquer and pottery decorated with lacquer appeared.

This is one of my favourite artworks.It called The Cowherd and the Girl Weaver ,It was designed in Qing Dynasty from 1644 ~1911.The carved of the box is very exquisite and delicateness.I like it very much.

Then,I went to the Ancient Chinese Jade Exhibition.

This is my favourite one.Its color is pink and it looks very beautiful and comfortable.This artwork is called Rose Quarlz Dragon-headed Censor. It was made in Qianlong Reign,from 1736 to 1795 in Qing dynasty.My father told me that there were many artworks were stolen at that time.What a pity!

This short journey let me learn many things of the history of our country.The skill of our ancestors was fairy good and fantastic.I think we must study the spirit of our ancestors.

Cultural Awareness

Eat in the Mexican Restaurant

A pleasant day at 28th February, Evelyn and I went to the Mexican Restaurant called Tocus Restaurant to had dinner.The Tocus Restaurant is located in Zhujiang road on the 2rd floor.We have heared that the Mexican food is very famous and delicious,so,we decided to have a try.

Evelyn and I arrived at about 5'clock.We were very hungry that time,we can;t wait any more.I ate the children' packages,because it is very preferential and only cost 42 RMB.It contains the drink,chips and cheesecake,but I think the food there were not as good as I imagined.I felt a little bit disappointed.However, I enjoyed myself when I have dinner there.

The differences between Mexian food and Chinese food is clear.The Chinese food are lighter than Mexican.There were many people there,so the restaurant was a little crowded.Speaking of the environment,It is not very roomy and the light is too dark.I don't like the atmosphere there very much.The service there was also not very good.I waited for a long time to had the dinner. The waiters there were not very cordial and elegant.They have no smile on their face.When I wanted to go to the toliet, they told me to find by myself.I think as a waiter,they should treat the customers patiently and politely.

As a conclution,I think the service and environment restaurant is so so,but the food there are delicious.If you have time,you can have a try.
